Lake Kerinci is the second largest lake in Sumatra. Its beauty has always been associated with a legend of the Kerinci. Calungga turn into a giant dragon with a ruby red stone on his head Mustika. To test his power, the Dragon Calungga appealed to all the gods in the earth's natural magic in order to inundate the Kerinci valley with water, forming a large lake. Round the dragon's body forms a lake which is now called Lake Bento at the foot of Mount Kerinci.
